TUPD Achieves Reaccreditation
In a ceremony on Thursday, June 11th, the Tufts University Police Department was awarded the title of accredited by the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission (MPAC). This marks the 7th time TUPD has been reaccredited since its first achievement in 2005.
In order to be reaccredited, TUPD underwent a 3-day assessment by members of MPAC, including 257 mandatory standards and 125 optional standards. TUPD was required to meet all applicable mandatory standards as well as 55 percent of the optional standards, a number that is based on the size of the department.
State accreditation is a voluntary program that reflects a department’s commitment to excellence and accountability. TUPD aims to undergo the process once more in 2029. To learn more, visit the MPAC website or email the department’s accreditation manager, Lieutenant Moses Curry.
