The Tufts University Police Department is undertaking a self-initiated process to reevaluate, recommit, and renew our focus on strengthening community-police relations. Therefore, TUPD will promote and support a department-wide commitment to the Community Oriented Policing and Problem Solving (COPPS) philosophy.

The COPPS philosophy uses a systematic approach to building partnerships through community engagement and collaboration for problem-solving strategies. Altogether, COPPS can proactively address all immediate conditions that give rise to public safety issues. Through our partnerships, we can create a culture of prevention through collaborative problem-solving.
