Request a Report

The Tufts University Department of Public Safety understands that records generated about crimes and calls for service are of interest to the community. The Department is also committed to ensuring that individual rights are protected as required under the law and that information is disseminated accurately, without prejudice, and in such a manner as not to jeopardize an ongoing investigation or the safety of an individual.

This link below may be used to request a copy of a Tufts University Police Department incident report or a motor vehicle accident report. Generally, all report requests are reviewed by the Director of Public Safety within 10 business days. Please note that the Department does not disseminate video security records.

Request a Report Form

If a report request is approved, be prepared to sign the request form when you arrive and provide positive identification.

Please be advised that certain statutes contain prohibitions and/or restrictions on the type of record information which may be released including, The Criminal Offenders Information ACT (CORI) (MGL Ch. 6, SS167-178), Juvenile Reports, and MGL Ch. 41, S97D which prohibits the release of all reports of rape and sexual assault or attempts to commit such offenses, and all reports of abuse perpetrated by family or household members, as defined in section 1 of Mass General Laws, chapter 209A.

Additionally, “Law enforcement unit records” are not “education records” subject to the privacy protections of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).

Report requests for insurance companies, and all legal processes including subpoenas, should be directed to the Tufts University Office of General Counsel.
