On Tuesday, August 1, members of the Tufts University Police Department attended National Night Out, an annual celebration hosted by police agencies across the country. TUPD attended celebrations in Medford, Grafton, and Boston as part of partnerships with these communities.

TUPD was one of dozens of organizations that partnered with their local police agencies to provide the community with a fun-filled night full of free activities for all ages, including dunk tanks, face painting, and K9 demos.

Alongside officers, NNO was also attended by Pepper, TUPD's first comfort dog, who will be a permanent fixture of the Medford/Somerville campus in the near future.

National Night Out has been held every first Tuesday in August since 1984 as a community-police awareness-raising event in the United States. This is the second annual celebration for the Medford Police Department, which aims to continue this tradition thanks to the support of the community.
