On Thursday, Oct. 13 the Tufts Department of Fire Safety in collaboration with Tufts Dining Services hosted their annual First Responders Chili Fest in Carmichael Hall. The event is hosted in appreciation for all first responders in the Medford and Somerville area who work every day to keep the community safe.

With the help of the Dining staff, EMTs, firefighters, and police officers had access to several chili options, including beef brisket, chicken mole Cincinnati chili, and tofu vegetable chili that could be topped with cheese, sour cream, guacamole, tortilla chips, and more. Students visiting the dining hall on their lunch break could also take chili for their meal.

The event was attended by both Tufts University first responders as well as members of the community, with visitors from Medford Fire, Medford Police, Somerville Police, and Armstrong EMS, in addition to TUPD and Tufts Fire Safety.

The event also coincided with National Fire Safety Week. The Tufts Fire Marshall was there to provide students with important fire safety information to know when living on campus.

Chili Fest is held at Tufts every year by Fire Safety to show appreciation for first responders in the community.
