I was very excited, honored, and humbled to receive this news,” said Weisse.

From hundreds of applicants across the country, Weiss was selected to join a twelve-member crew in Easley South Carolina for the World Series from July 29 through August 5. Each day, four umpires will be assigned a different position, such as home plate, first, second, or third head.

“I have umpired the East Regional tournaments for Major Division Baseball and Major Division Softball,” Weisse said, “and had the exposure for them to evaluate me in a tournament setting.”

To qualify as an umpire at a Regional or World Series tournament, an application is submitted alongside a recommendation from regional headquarters. In Massachusetts, the East Region headquarters is located in Bristol, Connecticut.

It is an honor and privilege to be selected to represent Massachusetts and District 13 Little League,” said Weisse.
